Andrea Filice – Montague, MACP, Registered Psychotherapist

Psychotherapist in Burlington

Everyone deserves to live a happy, healthy, and meaningful life. Life can be challenging and sometimes we need a little help along the way. I believe a strong therapeutic relationship is fundamental for growth and positive change; I am committed to working patiently with each individual to establish trust and create a safe space, where they can begin their journey to healing and an improved quality of life.

My work with individuals, couples, and families, is person-centred and trauma-informed. I take an integrative approach utilizing various modalities such as:

EMDR is a specialized psychotherapeutic approach often used to treat trauma, PTSD, anxiety, phobias, panic, and dissociative disorders. Sessions involve revisiting distressing memories while focusing on external stimuli, guided by a trained therapist. The goal is to reprocess the traumatic memories and reduce their emotional intensity, helping the individual move forward in a healthy way.

Attachment-Based therapy is based on attachment theory and explores how an individual’s childhood and early relationship experiences may be impacting their current behaviours and connections with others. Attachment-based therapy can be beneficial for individuals struggling with relationship challenges, trust issues and unresolved childhood trauma.
Cognitive behavioural therapy, or CBT, is a widely practiced and researched form of psychotherapy that focuses on helping individuals recognize and identify negative thought patterns, and discover methods to reform these thoughts. By using CBT, individuals can improve and potentially overcome issues including anxiety, depression, phobias and more through structured sessions with a trained therapist.

Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT) is a type of psychotherapy that places a focus on understanding and regulating emotions to improve mental well-being and interpersonal relationships. It helps individuals to gain awareness of their emotional experiences and express them in a healthy way, creating emotional resilience.
The Gottman Method is a type of couples therapy developed by Dr. John Gottman and Dr. Julie Schwartz Gottman. Based on decades of research and clinical practice, this method works to foster healthy communication, understanding and intimacy between partners. Gottman therapy can be beneficial for couples experiencing a wide range of challenges and help work towards a higher relationship satisfaction for each partner.
